Dr. Webb has been managing intellectual property matters for the Soane family of companies since 2006.
At Soane Materials, she works closely with inventors to capture their inventions in patent applications and collaborates with outside counsel to protect those applications with issued patents. She is responsible for the full spectrum of intellectual property matters for Soane including patent portfolio development and management, business-oriented IP strategies, IP-related aspects of commercial transactions, and general IP issues about trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and confidentiality.
Before joining Dr. Soane as patent counsel, Dr. Webb was a partner at Goodwin LLP in Boston, MA, where she focused on company-side patent portfolio optimization, technology transfer, and investor-side patent diligence. Joining the Soane team has allowed her to nourish the young chemistry-based companies Dr. Soane has founded and help them succeed. Working with the Soane family of companies also allows Dr. Webb to follow her own passion, making the world cleaner, safer, and more sustainable through innovative science and technology.
Prior to becoming a patent attorney, Dr. Webb was a board-certified surgeon, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, with teaching positions at Harvard, Tufts, and the University of Pennsylvania. She received her J.D. from Harvard, her Ph.D. from Yale, and her M.D. from Duke.
