Dr. Farooq Syed

Farooq Syed, a research scientist at Soane Materials, brings a diverse research background spanning both industry and academia. With 4+ years of industrial experience, Dr. Farooq led high-impact projects at two innovative startups as a senior materials scientist, driving advancements in both thin film-deposited coatings for enhanced barrier properties of medical-grade packaging and also in carbon nanomaterials.

Dr. Farooq received his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Tuskegee University, Alabama. During his graduate studies, he has worked on various projects, including carbon nanomaterial composites, non-woven fiber spinning, and molecular dynamics simulations. He worked as a lab manager for over 6+ years, acquiring, maintaining, and troubleshooting a wide range of material characterization equipment while ensuring stringent adherence to lab safety and compliance protocols.

At Soane Materials, his focus is on developing sustainable, flushable materials to address the growing challenges in wastewater management. His work involves rigorous research and innovation to ensure that materials break down easily in water, reducing the impact on plumbing systems and the environment.
